The Days the Leaves begin to Fall

Post by BC Williams on Sat 29 Jan 2011, 1:19 pm

.................................The Day the Leaves Begin to Fall

...................

..................................It is the day when leaves begin to fall,
...............................when colors drip from languid trees
............................and everyone knows what will be.
...........................But before winter, the leaves will fall.

.........................It is now raining, and a nip is setting in.
........................I feel the energy of autumn's dying days,
........................I know that blanketed riff of forested ways -
.........................the brilliant muted colors setting in.

..........................And where I step, indents in leaves I leave . . .
...........................soon, all the trees I see will be bleak
.............................and comfort of my home time I will seek.
................................Then, I'll recall the day the leaves began to fall.
